Ali Abedi, a well-known artist, was summoned by the ministry of intelligence in Saqqez and interrogated for several hours on January 6, 2019.

A reliable source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that this artist and songwriter was telephone summoned by the Ministry of Intelligence in Saqqez and interrogated for several hours.

“Following the widespread strike in Kurdistan in protest to the execution of political prisoners and the missile attack of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) on the headquarters of the Kurdish parties in the Kurdistan region, the above mentioned civilian was summoned in March 2018 and threatened”, the source added.

According to this source, the interrogators threatened this Kurdish civilian that they would arrest him and close his music school because he had produced clips of epic poems and taught such poems at his music school.

“During the 40 years of the Islamic Republic’s ruling, I have not only been banned from artistic activities but also I have been deprived of all my economic, social and cultural rights as a civilian,” Ali Abedi had said in an interview with Rojan Weekly Magazine in April 2018.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Intelligence Offices in various cities of Kurdistan have summoned and threat the artists who compose epic clips on the pretext of supporting the Kurdish parties opposing the Islamic Republic of Iran.
