Sabrieh Kafashian, one of the Mothers of Khavaran, who had lost three of her children to state atrocities in the 1980s, has passed away in the city of Kerend in Kermanshah province.

Iran had executed Kafashian’s son Behzad Abdollahi, a medical student at the University of Tabriz, in the summer of 1988 in a massacre of political prisoners. It had also killed her two other sons Yousef and Behrouz, in the 1980s.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) commemorates the memories of Behrouz, Yousef, and Behzad Abdollahi and extends its condolences to the family of Sabrieh Kafashian and all those who demand prosecution.

KHRN also emphasizes the right of the families of the victims demanding prosecution for more than four decades of the rule of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Mothers of Khavaran is a group of mothers and families who seek justice for several hundreds of victims of the state atrocities, mass enforced disappearances, and secret extrajudicial executions of 1988.
