Six Kurdish activists that were detained in the recent wave of arrests in Iran have been transferred to prisons in Orumiyeh and Mahabad during the past week, after the completion of their interrogation. One of these activists has later been taken from prison to an unknown location to be “further interrogated”, sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
On 6 February, Kurdish female civil rights activist Darya Talebani was transferred from the detention centre of the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Orumiyeh to Mahabad Prison, after being kept in detention for nearly a month.
Talebani was arrested in Mahabad on 9 January, the first day of the launch of the mass arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists.
On 9 February, activists Sirwan Nouri and Soran Hassanzadeh were transferred to the quarantine ward of Orumiyeh Prison from the detention centre of the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC.
On 13 February, three other Kurdish activists, Shapol Khezri, Hossein Gardeshi, and Farhad Musapour were taken to Orumiyeh Central Prison from the same detention centre, after their interrogation was completed. They are currently held in the ward for political prisoners of the prison.
On 15 February, Farhad Musapour was transferred from the prison to an unknown location on the pretext of “continuing his interrogation”.
Musapour had been arrested along with Bahman Yousefzadeh and his brother Fereydoun Musapour on 9 January.
According to the sources of the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, dozens of Kurdish citizens and activists are currently being held in 7 Tir and 81 Ramazan detention centres of the IRGC in its Al- Mahdi Base in Orumiyeh.
The new wave of arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists in 13 different cities of Iran by the forces of the IRGC and the Ministry of Intelligence began on 9 January and continues to this day. During these detentions, which were mostly in groups, more than 100 people were arrested, of whom the names of 94 have been registered by the KHRN. So far, 12 of these people have been released on bail, and the rest are still being held in temporary custody in the detention centres in Orumiyeh, Sanandaj, and Marivan.
