Akam Amini

Arrest

Akam Amini, a Kurdish civilian from the village of Kani Rash in Bukan, West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence at his family home in the village on 21 October 2024.

Defendant’s Rights

He was arrested without a warrant and was denied family visits and access to legal representation during his detention.

Despite his family’s repeated attempts to obtain information about his fate, security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any clarification regarding his situation.

Current Status

After spending several days in the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Bukan, Amini was transferred to the city prison and was released on bail on 9 November 2024.
