The story

Arjin Jondi, a 16-year-old Kurdish child, had been living with his uncle’s family in the village of Kuper following his father’s death.

On the evening of 11 September 2026, armed individuals shot dead Eslam Kak-Darvishi, a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in the village.

Following the killing, Kak-Darvishi’s family destroyed the home of Jondi’s uncle, alleging that the child had been involved. However, a group calling itself “Khori Hiwa” had claimed responsibility for the killing.

Arrest

Jondi was arrested on 12 September 2026 after being summoned to the IRGC Intelligence Organisation’s office in Piranshahr, where he went accompanied by a family member.

At the time of his arrest, Iranian state media reported that IRGC Intelligence agents had arrested the IRGC member’s “killer”, without identifying the person detained.

On 22 September 2026, state media published a video of confessions attributed to Jondi.

He was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied access to a lawyer and family visits.
