Iran has executed today two prisoners in Orumiyeh Central Prison, in the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan.

Prisoners Peyman Babakhani and Mir Ali Hosseini, who were executed in the early hours of the day, had been sentenced to “retribution in kind” (qisas) on charges of “premeditated murder”.

On 14 March, prison officials ordered the transfer of Babakhani and Hosseini, and three other prisoners named Jafar Esmaeili, Osman Sahraei, and Saado Armand, from wards 1 and 2 of the prison to solitary confinement for execution.
