Iranian criminal investigation police have tortured and killed Kurdish young man Mehrdad Taleshi on 3 February, after arresting him for unknown reasons in Tehran, on 1 February.
An acquaintance of the young man, who wanted his name to remain anonymous for security reasons, confirmed the news in an interview with the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
The acquaintance said Taleshi, who lived in Tehran and was from Divandarreh in Kurdistan province, was arrested by the forces of the criminal investigation department of Tehran and taken to the detention centre of the institution in Shapour, on 1 February. “At 5 am on Wednesday, 3 February, the young man’s body has been taken to the hospital from the criminal investigation department and his family was informed of his death through the hospital.”
According to this source, when the body was delivered to the family on 17 February, they were told that he had lost his life due to a heart attack in the detention centre, but contrary to this claim, the effects of torture on his body were evident.
“Due to security pressures and waiting for an official forensic opinion, the family has so far refused to comment on the issue, but in the coming days they plan to file a complaint against the criminal investigation department of Tehran”, the source added.
Mehrdad Taleshi was 20 years old and has been active in the field of music for the past year.
