The Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) returned prisoners of conscience Davoud Jabbari, Ebrahim Khalil Sedigh Hamedani, Salar Khalil Sedigh Hamedani and ten non-political prisoners to Orumiyeh prison on 25 November.

The intelligence agency had transferred the prisoners to its detention centre in Orumiyeh for interrogation. It returned them to prison after a month.

The detainees were denied the right to contact and receive visits by their families during this period.

On 26 October, security forces transferred five prisoners of conscience, Mohyeddin Ebrahimi, Mohyeddin Tazehvared, Davoud Jabbari, Ebrahim Khalil Sedigh Hamedani, Salar Khalil Sedigh Hamedani, and 15 non-political prisoners – including three named Farzin Ghaderi, Amir Mohammadi, and Kamal Khakzad – to detention centres of the Ministry of Intelligence and the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC in Orumiyeh.

On 15 November, Mohyeddin Tazehvared was returned to prison after 20 days in the detention centre of the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC.

On 25 November, after a month, all 19 prisoners detained by the Ministry of Intelligence and the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC in Orumiyeh were returned to the prison.

The transfer of these detainees followed administrative changes to Orumiyeh’s security institutions. With these changes, we are likely to see a new round of pressure and court filings for more prisoners by the Ministry of Intelligence and the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC.

In the context of the changes, the head of the special office of the intelligence ministry based in Orumiyeh Central Prison has changed.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Intelligence has set up a special office in Orumiyeh Central Prison due to the higher number of Kurdish political prisoners compared to other Iranian prisons. Its officials play an active role in prosecuting, threatening, and torturing political and non-political prisoners.
