There is no information on the situation of the Kurdish protesters Nasser Vassaf and Shahin Vassaf, who have been under detention since 21 September in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.

The two civilians were detained by the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Orumiyeh during the recent anti-government protests.

“On 21 September, with the beginning of the anti-government protests in Orumiyeh, agents of the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC raided the family home of Nasser Vassaf and Shahin Vassaf in the city and arrested them without presenting a judicial order”, said a source in an interview with the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

The source added that the two Kurdish civilians have been held at the detention centre of IRGC’s Intelligence Organisation in Orumiyeh since their arrest and have so far been denied access to lawyers and family visits.

The charges brought against these individuals remain unknown.
