Marefat Karimi, a 29-year-old woman, was killed by her husband in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province, in north-western Iran, on 16 February.
Karimi’s husband beat and strangled her after she opposed his decision to marry a second woman, Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
The husband was arrested after the young woman’s family filed a complaint against him.
Karimi, who was originally from the Habashi village of Salmas, West Azerbaijan province, was the mother of a five-year-old child.
