Women’s rights activist Fariba Zand-Karimi was temporarily released today from the Juvenile Detention Centre of Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, after three weeks of detention.
Zand-Karimi, who was detained on 5 April after being summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj, was released on a bail of 5 billion rials – nearly 10,000 USD.
After her arrest, security interrogators went to her family home and confiscated some of her personal belongings while searching the house
During this time, she was denied access to a lawyer while in solitary confinement.
There is no information about the reason for Zand-Karimi’s arrest or the charges brought against her.
