Security forces arrested Kurdish civilians Hossein Mahmoudpour, Hamzeh Ghanei, Omar Hosseinzadeh, Hedi Abdolbakht, and Najmaddin Eisazadeh in Oshnavieh and Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan Province in recent days, taking them to undisclosed locations.
The arrests are part of a recent wave of arrests of Kurdish activists and civilians ahead of the anniversary of the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that on 17 August, security forces arrested without warrant Hedi Abdolbakht in the village of Bimzortah and Najmaldin Eisazadeh in the village of Sheikh Osman in Oshnavieh.
In addition, on 16 August, Hamzeh Ghanei and Omar Hosseinzadeh were arrested without court orders in the village of Hajji Ghaldeh in Piranshahr.
On 15 August, security forces arrested Hossein Mahmoudpour in the village of Gorgul-e Sofla in Piranshahr.
According to statistics compiled by the KHRN, at least 23 Kurdish civilians were arrested by security forces in Tehran, Piranshahr, Oshnavieh, Mahabad, and Sanandaj over the past week.
