Iranian security forces have arrested five more Kurdish civilians as part of the recent wave of arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists in Mahabad, Marivan, Javanrud and Kamyaran on the eve of the anniversary of the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising.

The identities of these civilians are: Amanj Khasteh, Zana Parvaneh, Moein Faghihi, Hesam Karami, and Sirvan Karami, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

On 19 August, Zana Parvaneh was taken into custody by security forces in Marivan, Kurdistan Province, and taken to an undisclosed location.

On the same day, security forces arrested Hesam Karami in the village of Chersaneh in Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province.

Hesam Karami’s brother, Sirvan Karami, faced a similar fate the previous week but was released four days after his arrest.

In addition, on 16 August, security forces arrested Amanj Khasteh in the village of Gogtapeh in Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province, and took him to an undisclosed location.

These individuals were arrested without a court order, and details concerning the specific charges against them or their current whereabouts remain unknown.

Statistics compiled by the KHRN show that in the last ten days alone, at least 28 Kurdish activists and civilians have been arrested by security forces in Tehran, Piranshahr, Javanrud, Kamyaran, Oshnavieh, Mahabad and Sanandaj.
