Prisoners Sasan Farzipour and Mohammad Bagher Bazgir were executed on murder-related offences in Parsiloun Prison in Khorramabad, Lorestan Province, on 30 September.
The prisoners had been transferred to solitary confinement in Parsiloun Prison several days before their execution.
Bazgir, a resident of Khorramabad, was arrested in 2021 on charges of the “premeditated murder” of a cleric and was sentenced to death.
Similarly, Farzipour, born in 1992 in Khorramabad, was arrested in 2018 on charges of “premeditated murder” and received the death penalty.
These death sentences were handed down under the Islamic law of qisas, or retribution-in-kind, which gives the victim’s family the right to retaliate.
