The situation of Kurdish civilian Adel (Shakhawan) Mirzaei remains uncertain following his arrest by security forces in the village of Negel in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, about a month ago.

Despite persistent requests by Mirzaei’s family to the court and the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj, they have received no information about his well-being.

Mirzaei has been denied access to legal counsel, family visits, or contact with his family since his arrest.

On 16 September, security forces raided the village of Negel and arrested Mirzaei along with two fellow residents, Mobin Parvin and Mahan Nasaji, and took them to the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj.

After initial interrogation, Parvin and Nasaji were transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison last week and then provisionally released pending further legal proceedings.
