Kurdish civilian Mohammad (Soran) Moradkhani, who was arrested in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, has been held in detention for 36 days with no information on his current status.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Moradkhani was arrested without a warrant by security forces on 8 October and taken to an undisclosed location.
Moradkhani made a brief phone call a few days after his arrest, revealing that he was being held by the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj.
Despite persistent efforts to obtain information from the court and the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj, his family has yet to receive any information about his situation.
Moradkhani’s family have reportedly been threatened by security forces not to speak to the media about his arrest.
The charges brought against Moradkhani and the exact location of his detention remain unknown.
