Iranian border guards opened fire on a group of kolbars in the Sardab border area of Baneh, Kurdistan Province, on 21 April, killing kolbar Shwana Ahmadpour.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the border guards targeted the group of kolbars at close range and without warning.
Two other kolbars were reportedly injured in the shooting and have been taken to a medical facility in Penjwen, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, for treatment.
The body of Ahmadpour, a 34-year-old father of one from the village of Najneh-ye Sofla in Baneh, was taken to the Forensic Medicine Department in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, for examination.
