Iranian authorities today executed prisoners Mohammad Koushki and Babakhan Jafari on drug-related charges in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, Alborz Province.
The two men were transferred to solitary confinement on 21 October in preparation for their execution.
Jafari, 65 years old from Nurabad in Lorestan Province, was arrested about five years ago and sentenced to death for drug trafficking.
Koushki, born in 1996 and from Kuhdasht in Lorestan Province, was arrested in 2020 on similar charges and subsequently sentenced to death.
In the past four weeks alone, at least 11 prisoners convicted of drug offences or “premeditated murder” were executed in prisons across the country, including Kermanshah, Ghezel Hesar, Hamadan, and Orumiyeh.
