Authorities at Orumiyeh Central Prison executed Ramin Kazem Alilou and Ali Momeni, two men convicted of “premeditated murder”, in the early hours of 3 November, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

The two prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement on 1 November in preparation for their executions.

They were sentenced to death after being found guilty of “premeditated murder”, a crime punishable by qisas, which gives the victim’s family the right to retaliate under Islamic law.

Alilou, 32, and Momeni, 24, both from Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province, were arrested in separate cases on charges of “premeditated murder”, with Alilou detained about four years ago and Momeni about two years ago.
