Four prisoners, including two women, were executed in Ilam Central Prison on 3 December, after being convicted of “premeditated murder” in separate cases.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the individuals – Farideh Jafarzadeh, Aliyeh Kavarizadeh, Hassan Hassan-Beygi and Abdol-Vahab Babakhaniyan – were transferred to solitary confinement on 2 December in preparation for their executions.
All four were sentenced to death after being found guilty of “premeditated murder”, a crime punishable by qisas, which gives the victim’s family the right to retaliate under Islamic law.
Jafarzadeh was from Ilam, Kavarizadeh from Dehloran, Ilam Province, Hassan-Beygi from the village of Sarab-e Karzan in Sirvan, Ilam Province, and Babakhaniyan was from Badreh, Ilam Province.
