Omid Hamedi, a Kurdish teacher from Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province, was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence on 7 December.
Hamedi, who teaches at Shahed High School in Kamyaran, was arrested at his workplace without a warrant, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
Following his arrest, security forces took Hamedi to his family’s home, where they conducted a search and confiscated several of his personal belongings.
He has since been denied access to a lawyer and family visits, and despite repeated requests by his family, judicial and security authorities have refused to provide any information about his status.
This arrest comes amid a series of detentions targeting Kurdish teachers in recent weeks. Three others—Azad Khadem, Abdollah Karim-Gulan, and Hamid Azizi—were arrested in Saqqez, Kurdistan Province, and Kamyaran, and then taken to a detention centre in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province.
While Karim-Gulan was released on bail on 6 December, the other three remain in custody.
