The Ministry of Intelligence has arrested six Kurdish civilians and activists in a series of operations in Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan Province, in recent days.

The detainees – identified as Anvar Ebrahimi, Morad Ostovar, Nemat Ahmadnezhad, Mohammad Sohrabi, Fardin Mahmoudi, and Hiwa Shojaei – were taken into custody and transferred to undisclosed locations, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

On 19 January, the ministry’s agents arrested Shojaei, a civilian from Piranshahr.

The next day, on 20 January, intelligence agents raided the workplaces of Sohrabi, who was previously detained during the Women, Life, Freedom uprising, and Mahmoudi, an environmental activist, and arrested both without warrants.

Following the arrests, agents also raided and searched the homes of both men, confiscating a number of personal items.

At the same time, three other people – Ebrahimi from the village of Ziveh, Ostovar from the village of Pasveh and Ahmadnezhad from the village of Lakben – were arrested after security forces raided their homes.

Despite attempts by their families to learn their whereabouts, the authorities have so far refused to provide any information.
