Prisoners Mozhgan Azar-Pisheh, Kosar Baghernezhad, Arshad Farzadband and Hamed Faraji were executed in Orumiyeh Central Prison on 16 March for “premeditated murder”.
The four prisoners, who were convicted in separate cases, were transferred to solitary confinement on 15 March in preparation for their executions.
All four were sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder”, a crime punishable by qisas under Islamic law, which gives the victim’s family the right to retaliate.
Azar-Pisheh, from Orumiyeh in West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested in 2019, while Baghernezhad, from Naqadeh in West Azerbaijan Province, was arrested in 2021.
Farzadband, 28, from the village of Nari in the Margavar region of Orumiyeh, was arrested about two years ago, and Faraji, also 28, from Orumiyeh, was arrested about five years ago.
