The Ministry of Intelligence in Bukan and Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province, has arrested Kurdish civilians Ali Daneshi and Samrand Vojoudi and summoned dozens of others following a wedding celebration where guests wore traditional Kurdish clothing.
The arrests and summonses appear to be linked to a wedding in Bukan, where many attendees wore khaki Kurdish outfits that authorities claimed resembled the uniforms of Kurdish opposition Peshmerga fighters.
Ministry of Intelligence agents arrested Daneshi and Vojoudi without a warrant in Mahabad on 9 May.
In the early hours of the same day, security forces also raided the homes of Loghman Salek and Kaveh Salek, confiscating personal belongings including Kurdish clothes, mobile phones, identity documents and bank cards.
Dozens of residents of both Mahabad and Bukan were also summoned by telephone to appear at the local headquarters of the Ministry.
Earlier, on 3 May, Ebrahim Moradi, a civilian from Bukan and the father of the bride, was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence in connection with the event and released 24 hours later on provisional bail set at three billion rials (nearly 4,000 USD).
No information has yet been released on the charges against the detainees or their current whereabouts.
