Prisoners Moshir Osmanzadeh, Reza Miri and Sajjad Moradi were executed in Orumiyeh Central Prison in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province, and Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, Alborz Province, for murder and drug-related offences.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Osmandzadeh was transferred to solitary confinement on 12 May and executed in the early hours of 14 May at Orumiyeh Central Prison.
Osmandzadeh, who was from Orumiyeh, was arrested around four years ago and was sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder”, a crime punishable by qisas under Islamic law, which gives the victim’s family the right to retaliate under Islamic law.
In a separate development, two other men — Reza Miri from Harsin in Kermanshah Province, and Sajjad Moradi from Nurabad in Lorestan Province — were executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
Both men were sentenced to death in unrelated cases involving drug-related charges.
