Iranian authorities have executed Goran Ghaderi, a man from Marivan in Kurdistan Province, who was convicted of “premeditated murder” in connection with the death of Shiler Rasouli.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Ghaderi was transferred to solitary confinement on 19 May in preparation for his execution, which took place this morning.

He was arrested in September 2022 and later sentenced to death for what the court described as his “direct commission of the premeditated” murder of Rasouli, a 36-year-old woman.

On 3 September 2022, Ghaderi invited Rasouli to his home under the pretext of helping his unwell wife.

Upon discovering that Ghaderi’s wife was not at home, and following an attempted assault, Rasouli jumped from a window and sustained critical injuries.

She died six days later in a medical facility in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, and her funeral and memorial were widely attended by local residents and women’s rights activists in Marivan.
