Azad Ranaei, a 34-year-old Kurdish civilian from Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, was shot dead by police officers on the evening of 26 June.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that officers stopped his motorbike on Dr Hosseini Boulevard in Sanandaj and proceeded to search him. An argument broke out during the stop, after which one of the officers opened fire, killing Ranaei.
A source familiar with the case informed the KHRN that no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting so far.
