Iranian border forces today shot and killed a 23-year-old kolbar, Khaled Mohammadi, in the border areas of Baneh, Kurdistan Province.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day when a group of kolbars were fired upon at close range and without prior warning in the Shabedin border area of Baneh.

Mohammadi, who was from Baneh, was killed instantly in the shooting.

His body was later transferred to the forensic medical centre in Baneh and has not yet been released to his family.

Mohammadi had reportedly travelled to the Shabedin border zone to work as a kolbar on the evening of 7 July, shortly after celebrating his engagement earlier that day.
