Latif Yaghoubi, a Kurdish civilian who was shot by Iranian border regiment forces in Salmas, West Azerbaijan Province, last week has died from his injuries in a hospital in Orumiyeh, the provincial capital.
Yaghoubi, aged 45 and from the village of Kuzehrash in Salmas, was shot at close range and without warning by border forces in the Salmas border region on 16 July, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
He sustained serious injuries in the shooting and was initially transferred by local residents to medical facilities in Salmas.
Yaghoubi was later moved to Khomeini Hospital in Orumiyeh, where he died from his injuries on 22 July.
