A member of the armed wing of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) and another unidentified civilian have been shot dead by Iran’s security forces in the city of Marivan, Kurdistan Province.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that on 23 September, forces from the Ministry of Intelligence and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) opened fire on a Peugeot Pars car at the Mousak junction, killing at least two people inside.
“A private Peugeot Pars car was sprayed with bullets at the Mousak junction by several vehicles carrying security forces. After the car stopped, the forces surrounded the area and took both the vehicle and its occupants to the IRGC base in Marivan”, an eyewitness in Marivan told KHRN.
The East Kurdistan Units (YRK), PJAK’s armed wing, said in a statement on 10 October that one of those killed was its member, Mohammad Hossein Rashid, from Chamchamal in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The group said Rashid had been travelling unarmed in a civilian vehicle while returning to the Kurdistan Region for medical treatment when security forces opened fire, killing him and another passenger.
