Iranian border forces fatally shot a tradesman and wounded a kolbar in the Kani Seyf border area of Baneh, Kurdistan Province, after opening fire on a vehicle at close range without prior warning.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that at around 22:00 local time on 24 October, border guards targeted a vehicle carrying kolbars despite it containing no foreign goods. The driver, 32-year-old Ebrahim Piranzad, was killed, and a kolbar named Shaho was injured.
Following the killing, Piranzad’s relatives took his body to the front of the Baneh governor’s office to protest. Security and plain-clothes forces quickly dispersed the crowd.
Piranzad was a father of two from the village of Bilu in Baneh.
