Ministry of Intelligence forces have arrested Kurdish citizen Ayoub Rashi in Sardasht, West Azerbaijan Province, and transferred him to the Ministry’s detention centre in Orumiyeh, also in West Azerbaijan Province.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that on 28 October, more than 20 intelligence agents arrested Rashi with violence and without a warrant in one of Sardasht’s streets.

Despite repeated efforts by his family to obtain information about his whereabouts, security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any details about his situation.

This arrest is part of a new wave of detentions targeting Kurdish citizens and activists in several cities across Kurdistan in recent days. At least 12 people have been arrested so far and transferred to Ministry of Intelligence offices in Sanandaj and Orumiyeh.

Most of those detained are relatives of political activists living abroad, and no information has been made available about the charges against them.
