The Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan Province, has sentenced Kurdish citizen Ramin Khaledi Hassan-Abadi to five years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion to commit a crime against national security”.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that his trial took place in October at the court’s second branch, presided over by Judge Shahini, and he was informed of the decision that month in Naqadeh Prison, where he is currently held.

Security forces arrested Khaledi Hassan-Abadi in Oshnavieh, West Azerbaijan Province, earlier this year and transferred him to a security service detention facility in Orumiyeh, where he was subjected to several weeks of torture in an attempt to force him to confess before being moved to Naqadeh Prison.

The Oshnavieh Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office subsequently issued an indictment against him, referring the case to Branch Two of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh for trial.
