Security forces have arrested former political prisoner Danial Darab-Khani, a Kurdish man from Kermanshah now living in Lahijan, Gilan Province, and transferred him to Lahijan Prison, where he is being held under a temporary detention order.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Darab-Khani was arrested about two weeks ago and moved to Lahijan Prison after initial interrogation at a local detention facility.

He was charged with “propaganda against the state” and remains in custody in a state of legal uncertainty.

Darab-Khani was previously arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence in Kermanshah on 9 March 2018, following the nationwide protests that erupted in December 2017.

He was interrogated for 28 days before being transferred to Kermanshah Central Prison, also known as Dizel Abad Prison.

In the following months, Branch One of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Kermanshah, presided over by Judge Shahrokh Moradi, sentenced him to one year in prison on charges of “acting against national security”. He was released after serving 10 months of his sentence.
