Two former political prisoners from Sarvabad’s Selin village and a resident of Divandarreh have been detained by the Ministry of Intelligence in recent days, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

Yasser Advaei and Salman Advaei were taken into custody on 13 November after being summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence office in Sarvabad, Kurdistan Province. Both men had previously served prison sentences on political charges.

Yasser Advaei was previously arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence in June 2020 and released on bail after 45 days.

He was later sentenced to five years in prison on charges of “acting against national security” through alleged links to the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK). This sentence was later reduced to three years on appeal.

In February 2021, he was sent to Marivan Prison, from which he was released after serving his sentence.

In January 2021, the Ministry of Intelligence also arrested Salman Advaei, who was released on bail after spending a few weeks in custody.

Separately, on 11 November, Ministry of Intelligence forces arrested Kaveh Abdi, a resident of Divandarreh, Kurdistan Province, while he was travelling back from Dehgolan.

KHRN has been informed that all three detainees have been denied access to lawyers and family visits, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
