Sirwan Shawleh, a Kurdish woman from Mahabad in West Azerbaijan Province, has been released on bail from Orumiyeh Central Prison after spending 42 days in detention, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

Shawleh was temporarily released on 10 December after she was transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Orumiyeh to the women’s ward of the city’s prison following the end of her interrogation period.

Her detention followed the earlier arrest of her husband, Jalal Sadafi, who was taken into custody by Ministry of Intelligence forces on 15 December 2024 and remains held in Mahabad Prison.

On 4 February this year, Shawleh was summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence’s office in Mahabad, where she was questioned for several hours and threatened with arrest.

On 29 October, Ministry of Intelligence agents raided her home in Mahabad and arrested her without a warrant.
