Three Kurdish citizens, including two brothers and a 17-year-old child, have been killed after armed security and IRGC forces opened fire on anti-government protesters in the Jafarabad neighbourhood of Kermanshah, Kermanshah Province.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that brothers Rasoul and Reza Kadivarian were shot with live ammunition on Artesh Street on the evening of 3 January during the protests.

“Rasoul died after being transferred to Taleghani Hospital, and Reza was in a coma in the hospital’s intensive care unit”, an informed source told KHRN.

According to this source, Reza also died in hospital the following evening due to the severity of his injuries and his body was transferred to the morgue. So far, the bodies have not been handed over to the family.

It is said that Rasoul and Reza Kadiourian were 17 and 20 years old, respectively, at the time of their deaths, and that both were workers. However, the KHRN has not yet been able to verify their exact ages.

On the same day and in the same location, IRGC forces shot dead Reza Ghanbari, a 17-year-old Kurdish boy.

A well-informed source confirmed the news to KHRN and said: “Reza Ghanbari was a working teenager who was present at anti-government protests in the Jafarabad neighbourhood of Kermanshah. At around 7 pm on Saturday 3 January 2026, during an IRGC assault on protesters on Artesh Street in the neighbourhood, he was fatally shot in the back and side with live ammunition and died instantly.”

The source added that security forces had removed his body from the area and that it had not yet been returned to his family. According to a funeral notice issued by relatives, his burial is scheduled for 5 January in the village of Jabarabad-e Sofla in the Bilavar district of Kermanshah County.

The source also said that security forces had pressured the family to present their son as a Basij member and to attribute his killing to protesters, but the family had refused to comply.
