Prominent civil rights and environmental activist Sohrab Bahrami and former political prisoner Bahman Naderi have been detained for over a month in a state of uncertainty in security detention centres in Sanandaj and Kermanshah.
Bahrami was arrested at his workplace on 25 January during a wave of arrests targeting civil rights activists in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province.
He has been subjected to pressure to extract forced confessions during his detention, which has been extended once again.
Bahrami was previously arrested and imprisoned in connection with his civil rights activities.
Naderi, a former political prisoner from Kermanshah, was arrested on 18 January in the Jafarabad neighbourhood of the city during a raid by Ministry of Intelligence forces.
He was arrested without a warrant and was severely beaten at the time of his arrest.
Since then, he has been denied contact with his family and access to a lawyer, raising growing concerns about his fate.
Naderi was previously arrested during the Women, Life, Freedom uprising and has faced repeated arrests and fabricated cases by security forces in recent years.
