Security forces have arrested four Kurdish citizens in Mahabad and Piranshahr, in West Azerbaijan Province, and transferred them to undisclosed locations, raising concerns over their fate amid ongoing conflict.

On 30 March, security forces arrested two Piranshahr residents, Veyseh Mohammadpour and Akam Aboubakri, without presenting judicial warrants.

Separately, Soran Sohrabi and Mameh Alinezhad were detained by security forces in Mahabad in mid-March and on 24 March, respectively.

Sohrabi is the brother of Kurdish political prisoner Arsalan Khodkam, whose death sentence was later overturned and commuted to life imprisonment.

Reports indicate that all four individuals have been transferred to secret detention centres operated by security agencies in Orumiyeh, the provincial capital.

The arrests come amid continued detentions of Kurdish citizens and activists during wartime conditions, as military strikes by US and Israeli aircraft have repeatedly targeted facilities belonging to the Ministry of Intelligence and the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) across multiple cities.

Detention facilities run by these security bodies were located within the compounds of the bombed sites, which have been hit in at least six cities across Kurdistan.

This situation has intensified concerns about the safety and fate of individuals detained during the recent conflict.
