The intelligence forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have shot detained civilians in the hands and legs before transferring them to prison without medical care, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
Since the outbreak of war between the United States, Israel and Iran, the IRGC’s Intelligence Organisation has arrested several citizens and, in some cases, shot them in the hands or legs with military weapons.
After spending several hours in hospital, the detainees were transferred to prisons in Tehran province, including the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary.
“In recent weeks and following the outbreak of the war, some citizens who had filmed the bombardment of military centres and, while expressing happiness, sent the recorded footage to Telegram channels and television networks outside the country, have been arrested by forces from the IRGC Intelligence Organisation. These forces then, in a completely brutal act, shot the arrested individuals in the hands and legs, injuring them,” said an informed source in Tehran.
The source added that at least seven citizens injured in this manner had been transferred to Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary, where they were being held without access to medical treatment.
KHRN has learned that hundreds of detainees, including those arrested during the January protests and others detained since the beginning of the war, are currently being held in three wards of Section 6 of Ward 4 in the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary.
