Mohammad Ebadi, a citizen from Tehran, has been shot in the hand and arrested by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation forces during a raid on his family home.

“In recent weeks, coinciding with the outbreak of war, IRGC Intelligence Organisation forces have on multiple occasions shot citizens in the hand or foot following their arrest. After being wounded, these individuals were held for interrogation inside security forces’ vehicles for several hours before being transferred to hospital. The detainees were transferred to the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary following initial medical treatment. Mohammad Ebadi, a Tehran citizen aged approximately 35, is one of these individuals”, an informed source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Ebadi was arrested on 28 March when IRGC Intelligence forces stormed his family residence in Tehran. He was shot in the hand during the operation, held for several hours in a security vehicle for interrogation about his participation in the January 2026 protests, and subsequently transferred to hospital.

On 29 March, following initial medical treatment, he was moved to the quarantine ward of the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary.

The source added: “After one day in the quarantine ward of the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary, Mohammad Ebadi was transferred to Regiment 6, Ward 4. He is taken to the prison’s medical unit once a day solely for wound dressing changes and continues to be held in difficult conditions.”

KHRN had previously reported that at least seven other citizens were also shot in the hand or foot in recent weeks following arrest by IRGC Intelligence Organisation forces, and were transferred to the same prison in Tehran after receiving short-term treatment at medical centres in the city.
