Yousef Karimi, a Kurdish citizen from Bukan, West Azerbaijan Province, has been held incommunicado for one week following his arrest by security forces, with his family unable to determine his whereabouts or legal status.
“He was arrested on 3 April 2026 when security forces raided his family home in Bukan, without presenting a judicial warrant”, an informed source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
Since his arrest, Karimi has been denied all contact with his family and has had no access to legal counsel.
His brother, Soleyman Karimi, was also arrested by security forces in early February and held for approximately two months in a security detention facility in Orumiyeh, where he was subjected to interrogation and torture, before being temporarily released on bail in recent days.
