Ghazi Kawani, a young Kurdish tradesman, has died after being shot in the head at close range by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in the border highlands of the Qandil mountains in Sardasht, West Azerbaijan Province.
Kawani, from the village of Dolatou in Sardasht, was shot without prior warning in the Jasousan area in the Qandil mountain range last week.
He sustained critical wounds to the head and was transferred to a medical centre in Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province, for treatment.
The young man died on 23 May, from the severity of his injuries.
