Yousef Amini, a retired Kurdish teacher from Bukan, West Azerbaijan Province, has been arrested by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence after a raid on his family home.

Information obtained confirms that on the evening of 13 June, Ministry of Intelligence agents raided Amini’s family home in the Aliabad neighbourhood of Bukan without presenting a judicial warrant and arrested him.

At the time of publication, no information was available about the reasons for Amini’s arrest or his place of detention.

Amini had previously been summoned and arrested along with several other citizens following a wedding ceremony in Bukan.

Many guests at the ceremony had attended wearing khaki-coloured Kurdish clothing. The use of this type of Kurdish clothing, due to its similarity to the uniforms of peshmerga forces of Kurdish opposition parties, was cited as one of the reasons for the security agencies’ actions against participants in the ceremony.
