An appeals court in Tehran has upheld a 10-year prison sentence against Rebwar Marabi, a Kurdish citizen arrested during the December 2025–January 2026 protests.
Branch 36 of the Tehran Province Court of Appeal, based at the Shahid Soleimani Judicial Complex, recently upheld Marabi’s sentence, suspending four years of it for five years, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
Marabi was arrested in Tehran during the December 2025–January 2026 protests and transferred to Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary.
In February, Branch 28 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by Judge Mohammad-Reza Amouzad, sentenced him to 10 years’ imprisonment on the charge of “assembly and collusion with intent to commit crimes against national security”.
He was temporarily released on bail after appealing against the sentence.
Marabi is from the village of Marab in Kamyaran, Kurdistan Province, and has lived in Tehran, where he has worked as a chef at a restaurant for the past several years.
