Sirwan Khoshnamak, an 18-year-old kolbar from the village of Dumal in Marivan, Kurdistan Province, has been shot dead by Iranian border guards in border areas of Marivan.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that forces stationed at a border guard outpost opened fire on the young man from close range without prior warning in the early hours of 6 July, killing him instantly.
Khoshnamak was carrying goods in the Veyseh border area of Marivan when he was shot.
His body was transferred to the forensic medicine department in Marivan and has not yet been handed over to his family.
The killing follows another fatal shooting in the early hours of 3 July, when Wazir Rahimi, a 57-year-old kolbar and father of five, was shot dead by border guards in the Shushmi border area of Nowsud in Kermanshah Province.
After Rahimi’s death, his son released a video stating that his father was not carrying any goods when he was shot but had nevertheless been targeted by border guards.
