Security forces have detained at least five Kurdish citizens in Paveh, Sardasht and Mahabad over the past few days, transferring them to detention facilities run by the Ministry of Intelligence and the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The detainees are Sabah Valad-Beygi, Kamal Piranpour, Mullah Aboubakr Yousefi, Younes Mousapour and Sardar Ostad-Ahmadi, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
Valad-Beygi, a retired teacher and environmental activist from Paveh, Kermanshah Province, was detained by Ministry of Intelligence forces at his family home in the village of Nuryab on the evening of 1 July.
One day after his detention, Valad-Beygi made a brief phone call to his family and informed them that he had been transferred to a detention facility in Kermanshah.
He is the head of the Nour mountaineering group in Paveh and has previously been summoned by security bodies.
On the evening of 5 July, forces of the IRGC Intelligence Organisation raided a garden house in the town of Nalas, in Sardasht County, West Azerbaijan Province, on the pretext that members of one of the Kurdish opposition parties were present there.
The forces opened fire on the property and violently detained two of its residents, Yousefi and Mousapour.
Additionally, on 7 July, security forces raided the family homes of Ostad-Ahmadi and Piranpour in Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province, and detained them without presenting a judicial warrant.
