Border Regiment forces have killed 15-year-old Sam Hassani and wounded his father after opening fire without warning on their private vehicle in the village of Daraki in Sarvabad County, Kurdistan Province.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the forces fired at close range on the family’s car on the evening of 9 July, as they returned from their orchard along the road to the village of Daraki.
A bullet struck Sam Hassani in the head, killing him at the scene. His father, Ahsan Hassani, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
The child’s body was transferred to the mortuary of Bou-Ali Hospital in Marivan, Kurdistan Province, to complete the required legal procedures and has not yet been returned to his family.
Information received from sources in the border areas of Marivan, Paveh, Baneh and Sardasht indicates the security presence has intensified and military deployments have increased in recent days.
The sources added that Border Regiment forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have, in some areas, prevented villagers from accessing their private orchards and grazing land while imposing additional restrictions on the movement of local residents.
