A young kolbar from Sardasht, identified as Zanyar, was killed after Iranian border guards opened fire on a group of kolbars in the border highlands near the village of Daraki in Sarvabad County, Kurdistan Province.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the shooting took place on the evening of 14 July, when border guards fired at the group from close range without prior warning, killing Zanyar instantly.
His body was reportedly transferred to the mortuary of Bou-Ali Hospital in Marivan, Kurdistan Province.
The fatal shooting came only days after another deadly incident in the same area. On the evening of 9 July, border guards opened fire on the vehicle of a resident of Daraki village as he was returning from his orchard.
The shooting killed 15-year-old Sam Hassani, who was struck in the head, while his father, Ahsan Hassani, was wounded in the leg.
Figures compiled by KHRN over the past two weeks show that two other kolbars, 18-year-old Sirwan Khoshnamak and 57-year-old Wazir Rahimi, were also killed by border guards’ gunfire in the border areas of Marivan and Nowsud, Kermanshah Province.

A source close to the kolbar told KHRN that Zanyar Irannezhad, 23, was from the village of Spedareh in Sardasht, and had been married for around five years.
According to the source, he had previously been injured by a landmine while grazing livestock, sustaining injuries to the toes of one foot.
The source added that, because of unemployment and the harsh security conditions facing kolbars in the border areas of Sardasht County, he had travelled to the Hawraman region to work as a kolbar.
On the evening of 14 July, he was shot in the chest and killed instantly when border guards opened fire on a group of kolbars at the Tateh mountain pass in Hawraman.
