Aboubakr Houshangi, a peshmerga of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan, has died from wounds sustained in an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) missile strike on the party’s headquarters in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, bringing the death toll to 10.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that Houshangi died on 21 July after five days of treatment at a medical facility in the Kurdistan Region.
The IRGC carried out the missile strike on the party’s headquarters in the village of Zirgwezla, Sulaymaniyah Governorate, in the early hours of 17 July.
The attack killed nine other peshmergas: Farhad Ghamari from Divandarreh, Ahmad Mahmoudi from Baneh, Siavan Nik-Khah from Bukan, Kasra Rahmannezhad from Bukan, Soroush Nasri from Marivan, Sina Safari from Shabad (Eslamabad-e Gharb), Yasin Kianpour from Shazand, Zakaria Faghih Hassan-Agha from Bukan and Reza Sadeghi from Bukan.
At least three other people were seriously wounded.
Information compiled by KHRN shows that since 2017, IRGC missile and drone attacks on camps and headquarters belonging to Iranian Kurdish opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq have killed at least 54 party members and political refugees and wounded dozens of others.
